We propose to develop an internationally comparable environmental rating BeeAware, which would be based on the quality analysis of urban produced honey. As a result of our project, a sustainable rating will give an opportunity for local governments to signal their environmental friendly attitude and gather information about polluters in their district. The society gains awareness of environmental issues, which can raise real estate prices in greener areas, and, to an extent, give justification to people to raise issues concerning their neighborhoods’ environment (and voting with legs, when necessary). The by–products of the project are overall awareness of the environmental issues due to the marketing and implementing of the project. It will also produce extra jobs to the administrators of the project and to local beekeepers. An added perk is also locally produced honey.
