Some communities are endowed with the richest cultural heritage and cursed with the poorest living conditions. Children in such communities are usually unable to finish primary and secondary education because to their families, going to school is simply not economical enough. This proposal thus has the twin objectives of preserving the cultural heritage of such communities as well as helping the children to obtain education. Leveraging upon an online platform to engage beneficiary communities and the public, we propose for our pilot exercise in China a three–pronged approach under the umbrella name “AiBangbang (爱帮帮)”/Edu–Aid, which include:
BangbangTao (帮帮淘): Engaging children in handicrafts making and through online auction raising funds for their own education;
Crowdfunding@Bangbang(帮帮众筹): Meeting special needs related to education using funds raised via crowdfunding;
BangbangPai (帮帮派): nurturing an online community bonded with kindness and enhancing the involvement and commitment of the public.
