Sustainable Development Goals: Common Agenda, Plural Approaches
Sustainable development, which has been practiced and reflected over centuries, is a common choice made by all mankind in order to achieve sustainable stability and prosperity of the world. In 2015, the United Nations passed the development agenda for 2030 in which formulated specific goals of sustainable development, paving the way for a developing world in next 15 years. In step with it, YICGG2016 is a platform for young people around the world to participate in global governance. Moreover, it intends to be an unofficial agenda of G20 Youth Summit. Considering the motto of “constructing an innovative, invigorated, interconnected and inclusive world economy” of G20 Hangzhou Summit, YICGG of this year sets the agenda of “Sustainable Development Goals: Common Agenda, Plural Approaches” as preliminary, making the voice of the youth heard all over the world.
By now, how to achieve sustainable development has become a global issue, especially in the post-crisis context in which world economic structure is going through considerable adjustment. YICGG2016 concentrates on the influence and mission of the youth in this process, hoping to gather their wisdom to inject new vitality to global governance. However, because of the fact that countries are in different stages of development with different governance patterns, their perspectives and methods may diverse from each other when achieving the goals. According to this, YICGG2016 suggests (but is not limited to) these possible perspectives as below:
Innovating For Jobs
What kind of international cooperation can accelerate the structural adjustment of the world economy and achieve the goal of sustainable growth?
What are the differences among countries and regions on employment issues? What actions should governments take to create more jobs?
What can the youth do to develop the awareness of innovation and entrepreneurship? What is the unique role of youth innovation in promoting employment and economic growth?
Partnering Against Poverty

What is the root of poverty? What are the diversified manifestations of poverty in different countries and regions? Why?
What is the role of governments in the process of poverty eradication? Should developed countries and developing countries undertake common or distinct responsibilities?
What is the relationship between the youth and poverty? What can youth people do to eradicate poverty?
Empowering Through Education
What is good education? How to ensure that school-age children (regardless of their gender, nationality, etc) have equal access to good education?
What actions should governments take to achieve universal education and create lifelong learning opportunities for all citizens? What are the differences between developed countries and developing countries in advancing the quality of education?
How can the youth independently find more channels of education?
Is there any new forms of education? How can they contribute to promoting universal education and equal access to education?
Greening In Ecomomy
How to utilize freshwater, oceans, forests, land and other natural resources in a sustainable way? How to maintain the balance of ecological systems and biodiversity worldwide?
How to solve global environment issues, such as water shortage, water pollution and land desertification, by international cooperation?
How to strengthen the capabilities to withstand the impact of natural disasters and to minimize risk in the level of both nations and international society?
How to transform the energy structure under the pressure of global energy shortage? How to deal the relations between economic development and environmental protection?
What can the youth contribute to the global environment issues? What should the youth do to lead a green life?
Transforming With Traditions
What kind of innovation do we need? What do the youth from different countries think about innovation?
What is the relationship between tradition and innovation? How can native characteristic be kept in the era of globalization? What can the youth do?
Development is the eternal theme of human society. YICGG2016 earnestly invite outstanding youth representatives throughout the world to discuss the global governance issues, build an innovative, invigorated, interconnected and inclusive world and seek for the sustainable development of human society. We are looking forward to your participation, intelligence and voice.
